First Impressions

To the glorious and growing Waddies community,

Summertime is here and that means it’s prime tossing season for all of you Waddies enthusiasts out there. By now, most of you will have received your shiny new Waddies boards along with custom rubber Waddies pucks and any hats and shirts you ordered. It’s like Christmas in July!

Shipments from some of our vendors were delayed a bit so we’re sorry if you got your set a little later than expected. But we hope that you are now engrossed in family battles, neighbourhood competitions and backyard rivalries. If you’ve just placed your order recently, your products should ship out very shortly.

We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from our first customers and we’re very happy that mostly everyone is loving the new and improved Waddies. But we are also keen to receive constructive suggestions about how we can improve. Your questions and input mostly fell into these three categories:

1. Waddies is too difficult!

It’s true, Waddies is not an easy game to learn. This ain’t checkers. It’s more like learning to skate or ski. You need to put in the work and absorb a little dent to your pride. Those bouncy rubber pucks will fly all over the place as you master your toss. But it won’t take long before your sticking your landings and sinking Waddies like a seasoned veteran. In the meantime, please check out the Waddies YouTube page for some helpful instructional videos like the one below in which Waddies godfather Andy Speers demonstrates the basics of the ideal Waddies grip and throw. Also, feel free to move those boards closer together. Official Waddies tournaments will be played at a distance of 12 feet. But there’s no shame in training at 8 or 10 feet, especially for junior Waddies players or those looking to join the seniors tour.

2. We lost a Waddie!

Oh no, not already. If one of your Waddies has disappeared into the void of your cluttered garage, was eaten by your dog, or is now somewhere at the bottom of a lake (warning: Waddies do not float!), don’t worry, you are not destined to play with 5 pucks for the rest of your days. Simply head to the Waddies online shop and order however many replacements you need. We’ve reduced the price of the pucks and are selling them at any quantity. Better yet, order a bunch so that you’re not in this predicament again. Then you can do reckless things like play dock Waddies!

3. We left our Waddies boards out in the rain.

Ack! This is not good. The red tops of your Waddies boards are made from medium-density fibreboard which does NOT react well with water or any liquid for that matter. Please read the information sheet we sent with your set if you haven't recycled it already. In it, we recommended some care and maintenance tips, including not leaving your boards outside.  Always store your Waddies boards in a dry room and wipe them down if they happen to get wet. Waddies is a game that can be played outside, but not when it’s raining or snowing. The beauty of Waddies is that when the weather turns nasty, you can bring in your boards and keep the fun going in the basement, garage or hallway. We do not recommend bathroom Waddies, however 😉.

Keep that feedback coming! Send us an email or tag us on social media @waddiescanada.

Until next time,
The Waddies Team ✌️
